'HIDDEN FIGURES' CASTS

Another movie gathering a rather strong cast is period set drama HIDDEN FIGURES which will have Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Janelle Monae in its cast. It tells the untold true story of the African American female mathematicians at NASA who provided the calculations that helped fuel some of America’s greatest achievements in space. The story is told through the personal accounts of the four women known as the “Colored Computers,” and their accomplishment is set against the background of the Jim Crow South and the civil rights movement.

Here's another new historical drama for you! 'Deadline' reports that AMC has done casting for their ten episode epic mini series THE SON with Sam Neill leading the ensemble! Based on the Philipp Meyer book the multi gene- rational epic tale depicts the rise and fall of one Texas family.

THE FIRST SON OF TEXAS
Sam Neill will be Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family who was kidnapped as a child and raised among the Comanche tribe and applies the brutal Comanche world view to his business dealings. He was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, earning the nickname “First Son of Texas” and is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy. Henry Garrett  will be his eldest son  who grew up in Eli’s shadow and struggles to make his impossible father proud while still forging his own identity. Zahn McClarnon is Toshaway, a Comanche war chief who captures young Eli and becomes his father figure. Paola Nunez will play the last member of the wealthy Spanish aristocracy in South Texas, a college educated woman ahead of her time.

We're having a veteran star working with a younger actor day today! If you like literature you might find this one interesting: Oscar Winner Kevin Spacey has joined Nicholas Hoult in REBEL IN THE RYE biopic on J.D. Salinger! With young Nicholas playing the writer himself, Spacey will portray Whit Burnett, a professor at Columbia University and editor of Story Magazine who became an early mentor to the writer and became the first to truly challenge him and broaden his horizons as a storyteller. The film itself depicts how, after his rebellious youth and the bloody front lines of World War II, Salinger soared to the heights of the literary world but left it all behind for a life of seclusion.

BACKSTABBING FOR BEGINNERS

Meanwhile, another young guy we like, Theo James is in early talks to join Ben Kingsley in BACKS TABBING FOR BEGINNERS the movie adaptation of Michael Soussan's memoirs. 'Deadline' reports that he would play Michael, a young idealist who lands his dream job as a program coordinator for the UN’s Oil for Food program. He is thrown into an already fraught post-war Iraq where government agents and power hungry Western countries are circling the country’s oil reserves like sharks. He seeks answers from the one person he thinks he can trust, Pasha (Kingsley), his boss, a seasoned diplomat. The more Michael learns, however, the more he suspects a conspiracy at the highest level. The only way out will be to expose it all — risking his own life, his mentor’s career, and the life of the Kurdish woman he loves.

'HARLEY AND THE DAVIDSONS' HISTORICAL TV SERIES

Not much to report this slow Monday, people, but some of you might like the info on GAME OF THRONES and AGE OF ADALINE hunk Michiel Huisman who has just been cast as lead in Discovery Channel's scripted mini series HARLEY AND THE DAVIDSONS! Based on a true story it will see Huisman portraying Walter Davidson and British actor Robert Aramayo playing William Harley. Bug Hall (The Little Rascals) will portray Arthur Davidson.

As EW writes, the six part series will tell the story of how Milwaukee schoolyard pals built and rode the machines that rule the road. Beginning at the turn of the 20th century, at the shores of Lake Michigan, the series charts the birth of Harley Davidson during a time of great social and technological change and tells the epic story of how two 19-year-old kids from Milwaukee started a company in their backyard that would go on to become an American legend.
