Two really great pieces of news for you today, beginning with the star of the freshly finished DA VINCI'S DEMONS Tom Riley who will take the lead role in deeply moving film STARFISH together with DOWNTON ABBEY's Joanne Froggatt.
As 'Deadline' reports, it will be a true life story of Tom and Nicola Ray, whose lives changed overnight when Tom contracted a rare and life threatening illness. Tom survives, but at a price, with all four limbs amputated, parts of his face removed, and his life turned upside down.Starfish is a testament to the incredible things people are capable of when confronted with the unimaginable. It is a story of survival against the odds, not only for Tom but for their proud family unit.

Meanwhile, after lavish Russian epic series from last winter, Russian Tzarina CATHERINE THE GREAT will grace the big screens too! And Barbra Streisand will direct it for the first time after her 1996 flick MIRROR HAS TWO FACES! LIFE OF PI's Gil Netter is producing this movie about a sensual Catherine trapped in an abusive marriage with the heir to the Russian throne. But, when her inept husband proves incapable of ruling, she utilizes her intelligence, fortitude, and passion to rise to power, becoming Catherine the Great.
