Well this is a rather nice cast: Josh Hartnett has just been joined by two acting legends John Rhys Davies and Charlotte Rampling in sf movie VALLEY OF THE GODS which, as 'Deadline' reports, intertwines the stories of the richest man on earth, an ancient Najavo legend and writer John Ecas (Josh Hartnett), who possesses an unbridled imagination.

 John, the film’s narrator, has the ability to alter reality, launching the narrative into the realm of spectacular fantasy. The film follows the three narratives as the characters attempt to escape the inevitable drama that is about to unfold when supernatural visions ultimately clash with impending reality. Charlotte Rampling is currently nominated for an Oscar for 45 YEARS, while Davies is playing Elven King in THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES.

Speaking of Aneurin Barnard, his series WHITE QUEEN is officially getting a new season but just on Starz, since BBC has opted out of the project (European audience didn't like it as much as the US one). Following the previous season in which Rebecca Ferguson played the WHITE QUEEN, new eight part series, also based on Philippa Gregory book THE WHITE PRINCESS charts the rise of the House of Tudor through the tortuous marriage between Princess Elizabeth of York and King Henry Tudor. The year is 1485 and Princess Elizabeth has been pledged in marriage to the newly anointed King Henry Tudor in hopes that it will bring peace to a war-torn country. England is united, but their marriage is soon divided, as rumours circulate that Elizabeth’s long-lost brother Prince Richard is alive and planning to take the throne. Now she must choose between Tudor wife and York princess, between her new husband and the boy who claims to be her own blood and the true heir to the crown.

In today's TV news (beside the info that Bryan Fuller will be the showrunner for CBS's new STAR TREK series set for next January) TNT has just added Colm Meaney and Mattias Inwood to Shekhar Kapur's WILL epic series about young William Shakespeare’s (Laurie Davidson) arrival onto the punk rock theatre scene that was 16th century London – the seductive, violent world where his raw talent faced rioting audiences, religious fanatics and raucous side-shows. It’s described as the hot, contemporary, dangerous version of Shakespeare’s life, played to a modern soundtrack, exposing all his recklessness, lustful temptations and brilliance. Meaney will play the carpenter who built the first theatre in London after Roman Times. Dashing Mattias Inwood (whom you are watching in SHANNARA CHRONICLES) will play his son who together with WILL forms the greatest actor-writer partnership the world has ever seen.

'DUMB PRINCE' COMEDY SERIES

NICO EVERS SWINDELL AND TIM BALTZ TO LEAD THE CAST
Over at NBC they are casting the lead roles for their upcoming new comedy series DUMB PRINCE coming from Amy Poehler. GRIMM's Nico Evers Swindell will lead it! As 'Deadline' reports the comedy is set in the country of Modaria, known for the manufacture of mopeds and tiny cars, where the Faber family has ruled for generations. Evers Swindell will play Prince Karl (known as THE DUMB PRINCE –not affectionately) who returns home from a year’s exile in America after having passed out at the coronation of his seemingly hapless father, King Adrian. Tim Baltz will play Prince Marco, the second son of Modaria’s ruling family, and Jessie Ennis will play Princess Jana, the youngest child of the royal family.

London, 1975. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) is a young doctor seduced by the lifestyle in a HIGH RISE, an isolated community, cut off from the rest of society in their luxury tower block, and its creator, the architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons). Taking up residence on the twenty-fifth floor, Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Sienna Miller). After Laing befriends Richard Wilder (Luke Evans), a documentary filmmaker relegated to the second floor who is determined to provoke the class injustices inherent in the HIGH RISE, a dangerous social situation develops and the high-rise eventually fragments into violent tribes.

LILY COLLINS JOINS MATT BOMER IN PERIOD SET SERIES

Some really great casting news from the TV realm today, bringing some of our most beloved faces to the small screens, starting with dearest Lily Collins who has just been cast as the female lead next to Matt Bomer in Amazon's new series THE LAST TYCOON! Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's unfinished novel it will also have Kelsey Grammer and Rosemarie DeWitt in the cast!

As 'Deadline' reports, the project centres on Monroe Stahr (Matthew Bomer), Hollywood’s first wunderkind studio executive in the 1930s as he climbs to the height of power pitting him against his mentor and current head of the studio Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer)! Lily Collins will play Brady’s young daughter Celia, a lost young rich girl in love with Monroe who begins taking her seriously after her intriguing movie pitch. Rosemarie Dewitt joins the cast playing Pat Brady’s wife, Rose Brady.

'THE ROOTS' EPIC SERIES

Meanwhile, A&E has really rounded up an extremely star studded cast for their historical mini series THE ROOTS which, spanning multiple generations, follows the story of young Kunta Kinte (Malachi Kirby), who is captured in his homeland of Gambia and transported in brutal conditions to colonial America, where he’s sold into slavery. Throughout the series, the family continues to face adversity while bearing witness and contributing to notable events in U.S. history, including the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings and eventual emancipation.

THE STAR STUDDED CAST  
Rap star T.I., Mekhi Phifer,  James Purefoy, Matthew Goode have now joined Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Laurence Fishburne! The four, two hour, episode series will see T.I. play Cyrus, a headstrong slave who fights for his freedom for the Union Army against Confederate Forces; Mekhi Phifer is Jerusalem, a mute slave who works on the Murray plantation, but who is not quite what he appears to be; James Purefoy will play John Waller, the wealthy owner of a Virginia plantation who buys Kunta Kinte as a slave upon his arrival in America; Matthew Goode is Dr. William Waller, the educated, charming brother of John Waller!

The first trailer has also been released for another massive sf franchise - INDEPENDENCE DAY II: RESURGENCE.
